Ex Pat Parenting Mag – buy one of my pictures for friends who are off to….

While I was in PIPS yesterday I was reminded that this was in Ex Pat Parenting magazine this month… So if you would like to give someone who is leaving HK a happy gift, or just buy a picture anyway, and that picture is one of mine, great, and please don’t hesitate to drop me a line on www.theadorawhittington.com/contacts

Bright & cheery visit to Parkview International Pre School

PIPS (Parkview International Pre School) is highly organised preschool that follows the PYP within the IB, a fresh feeling place. I so enjoyed my visit there today, after many, many years since the last one. Many thanks to Khardine Rendall for her excellent organisation and welcome, & to Laura Mannering for introducing me to Khardine.

Some lovely art by the nursery children in Laura’s class:

And a very hot but beautiful walk through Tai Tam Park which neighbours PIPS for 50 mins afterwards!

Happy Dragon Boating

I seem to have been posting a lot of dragons / dragon boats recently. Today is the day of the dragon boat races.  Nowadays there is a strong international competitive ambiance. Very exciting here in Stanley!

Happy Birthday, Robin & Francis!

drag-boat-card-used

To our sons, both born on May 24th, but 2 years apart. Before their births I’d kind of hoped for 2 children born about 2 years apart. It seems that that was about the only thing in the ups and downs of my life that came about exactly as ‘planned’. Always lovely double parties with exciting cakes – dragons, planes, even a marzipan Buddha one time when their birthday coincided with Buddha’s … whatever mum had to come up with.

Today – poor Robin is doing a final Final at Imperial College, and Francis is on a ferry in the North Sea, en route for performing in concerts in Belgium. (So my dragon boat is therefore a Chinese version of a North Sea ferry?) And here where the parents are, it is hot and sunny, and we will probably just go for a swim.

Just sold a picture

A friend of a friend, Natalie, who is leaving Hong Kong for UK, collected funds from mutual friends for a gift. (Lots of friends here…). And the gift was a picture chosen from  my studio. Nice to think this festival lion will bring happy memories of Hong Kong for her family. Natalie was thrilled.

St John’s Cathedral Children’s choir

Come along, it’ll be lively – as well as musical, of course!

Good to design a flyer (& other related things based on this design, like nice certificates to give to 4 longstanding members of this happy choir):

Art and About in Sai Kung

A great day to catch up with artist friends I haven’t seen for a long while – like Sue Yee and John McArthur of Spitting Gecko – see their great works best on www.sueyee.org and www.spittinggecko.com respectively. It was long ago (8-10years?) that Helen Boyd, who coordinates the life drawing sessions I presently go to, shared a studio with Sue Yee and we and John all used to  meet up to do life drawing on Thurs evenings while sipping good wine.

I was taking part in a ‘Life Inspired’ tent alongside some of the gang with whom I’m presently exhibiting in PubArt Gallery, and with whom I do life drawing, and with good friend and artist, Lori Foster.

Also good to meet up again with Chi Ching Tony Cheng with whom some of us have exhibited too. And who has done so much to make ‘Art out and About’ happen.
